Quick reminder: Today’s Fall Training Stock-Up Sale deal is my 5×5 Kettlebell Method. The special one-day offer ends tonight. -> GET THE 5X5 KETTLEBELL METHOD HERE The original 5×5 workout is a strength training program that was popularized by Bill Starr in the 1970s. The basic idea is simple: Perform 5 sets of 5 reps of a chosen exercise, with the goal of increasing strength and size over time. The 5×5 workout is typically done with big compound exercises like the squat, bench press, and deadlift. But we’re going to adapt that tried-and-true training method to, you guessed it… The kettlebell. Here’s a free sample workout: Kettlebell 5×5 WorkoutPART 1 Do 5 reps of Exercise 1. Rest 60-120 seconds. Do 5 reps of Exercise 2. Rest 60-120 seconds. Go back to Exercise 1 and repeat until you’ve completed a total of 5 rounds.
Once you can complete 5 sets of 5 reps of each exercise, progress by adjusting the lifting tempo, reducing the rest period, choosing a harder exercise variation, or increasing the weight. PART 2 Use the same format: 5 reps of Exercise 1. Rest 60-120 seconds. 5 reps of Exercise 2. Rest 60-120 seconds. Repeat for 5 total rounds.
Again, once you can complete 5 sets of 5 reps comfortably, progress by adjusting tempo, rest periods, exercise difficulty, or weight. That’s one of the big keys to making 5×5 training work with kettlebells. With a barbell, you can just add a few pounds. With kettlebells, the weight jumps are usually much bigger, so you have to get a little more creative with how you progress. That’s exactly what I teach inside the full 5×5 Kettlebell Method. And if you like this workout, today is your chance to grab the complete program as part of the Fall Training Stock-Up Sale. -> GET THE 5X5 KETTLEBELL METHOD HERE The special offer ends tonight. Tomorrow, we move on to a completely different program. — Forest PS – Simple does not mean easy. A handful of good exercises, trained consistently with a clear progression plan, can go a long way. And that’s really the whole idea behind this program. |
